About Southern Maltings, Ware

Following our community campaign in 2016 to attain a 30-year lease for the development of the Southern Maltings as a Community Arts for All Centre, we have formalised our charitable mission for the building and our vision for where we will be in five years’ time.

Our mission:

The Southern Maltings is an artistic space dedicated to providing creative experiences that will enhance the health and well-being of the local and wider community. Through the provision of opportunities to learn, practice and experience creativity, we enable people of all ages and abilities to explore, experience and enjoy both their own and others’ artistic endeavours.

Our vision:

Become the pre-eminent provider of creative experiences, art and performance in East Hertfordshire
Provide a welcoming, open and fun space for people of all ages and abilities to explore and develop their creativity
Offer an unrivalled range of creative and arts-based experiences that are accessible to all; that surprise, challenge and excite our varied audiences
Ensure that we provide high quality diverse experiences that both enhance and add-value to the well-being of the local and wider community
Keep the Southern Maltings space as an asset for the community
Be known and recognised as the creative heart of Ware and surrounding areas.
Every event or experience we undertake is designed to deliver on our mission and vision.
