Develop your dancing to slower and more expressive music, build a comfortable feel on the dance floor and enjoy dancing to more expressive music!
This new Blues Workshop will be run by Blues master Nigel Anderson, who has taught all over the UK & Europe over the last 20+ years, including many weekenders.
The workshop is suitable for all levels of dancers, and introduces some new 'Memphis Style' moves, but is also a great refresher for those attending the evening freestyle. It’s broken down into 3-4 sections, starting with some basic starter steps, developing into various patterns, routines & styling to improve connection with your dance partner.
Memphis Blues is a style of music originating from Tennessee and is considered to be where all future Blues music originated. The father of the Blues “W C Handy” published the song “Memphis Blues” in 1909 and is the 1st blues music ever written down. In the workshop we will be looking at some of the different types of Blues music and exploring the various Blues dancing styles that have been developed from this raw and emotional music genre - including the exciting new retro dance form that is currently sweeping across the dance halls of the American Blues scene.
Following the workshop is our Smooth2Blues evening freestyle, starting with warm up lesson & guest DJ's playing best music they can find.
